First Look at Tesla Tequila with “Handcrafted by Skilled Glass Artisans” Bottle

Just a day after the release of Tesla Tequila, the sustainable energy company’s premium liquor beverage, first looks at the bottle’s packaging have surfaced.

Photos of the packaging containing the $250 lightning bolt-shaped bottle were seen by Twitter user @Edgar707KiDS. It appears that a commemorative box and item description will protect the liquor and stand.

“This bottle was handcrafted by skilled glass artisans, as such, it has imperfections and markings that make each bottle unique. Please take care when handling your bottle of Tesla Tequila,” a label states inside of the box.

The correct method for opening the bottle’s cap, which rounds off the lightning bolt at the end, is also included. The instructions explicitly state that the lid is to be pulled straight up and not to the side.

“To remove the cap, please pull straight up carefully. Do not pull at an angle or sideways. Failure to follow these instructions could result in breakage.”

The premium tequila that costs $250 was officially released by Tesla on November 5th. The bottles sold out in a matter of hours, appearing on eBay before Friday morning with bootlegged versions.

On April Fools Day in 2018, the Tesla Tequila concept began. CEO Elon Musk joked that Tesla had gone broke and declared bankruptcy in “Chapter 14 and a half.” Musk was found passed out after the trails of dried tears had run down his face, leaning against one of the electric vehicles of his company, surrounded by bottles of “Teslaquila.” While Tesla never won the right to use the name “Teslaquila,” the concept finally came to fruition.

Tesla stated:

“Introducing Tesla Tequila, an exclusive, small-batch premium 100% de agave tequila añejo made from sustainably sourced highland and lowland agaves. Aged for 15 months in French oak barrels and into a hand-blown glass bottle, Tesla Tequila features a dry fruit and light vanilla nose with a balanced cinnamon pepper finish. Best enjoyed as a sipping tequila.”
