On Wednesday, January 27, 2021, Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) will be reporting its Q4 2020 financial results. The firm will issue a brief advisory after the closing bell with a link to its Q4 2020 Update Message. For the third quarter, TSLA will hold its daily Q&A session at 2:30 PM PST (5:30 PM EST). For the fourth quarter, retail and institutional investors, along with analysts, will discuss the financial performance of the all-electric car manufacturer.
On January 2, Tesla posted its Q4 2020 vehicle production and delivery update, revealing that it had performed in record fashion once again. Total production of 179,757 vehicles and total deliveries of 180,570 units were announced in Q4 by the company. Among that number, 161,650 Model 3 and Model Y vehicles and 18,920 Model S and Model X vehicles were delivered by Tesla. In addition, Tesla achieved its 500,000 vehicle manufacturing target by making 509,737 cars in 2020 and delivering 499,550 of them.
Tesla’s record quarter was probably the biggest development from the Q3 Earnings Call, which began the momentum for Q4 as the company sought to achieve its lofty delivery and production targets. During Q1 and Q2, Tesla was compelled to close its vehicle manufacturing facilities in Fremont, California, and Shanghai, China, making the targets seem unreasonable. Tesla, however, mobilized to increase production to keep up with ever-growing demand to meet the target, making 2020 the automaker’s biggest year yet.
In 2020, Tesla stock also jumped over 700 percent, making it one of the biggest winners in the pandemic year for Wall Street. Continuous advances in battery and EV technology, along with demonstrated growth in the U.S. and international markets, fueled Tesla’s rise in valuation. Tesla continues to accelerate its massive drive to become a global player in the automotive industry and this year will launch two new Gigafactories: one in Germany and one in Austin, Texas.
