Elon Musk and the Israeli Ministry of Communications reached an agreement about Starlink operations in Israel, including Gaza.
SpaceX CEO Elon Musk visited Israel during the Gaza ceasefire recently. Israeli Minister of Communications Shlomo Karhi welcomed Elon Musk to the country, sharing news about Starlink.
Karhi congratulated Musk on “reaching a principle understanding” with Israel’s Ministry of Communications. Musk and Israel’s Ministry of Communications agreed on Starlink satellite operations in Israel and the Gaza Strip.
“As the State of Israel fights against Hamas – ISIS, this understanding is vital, as is it for everyone who desires a better world, free of evil and free of antisemitism, for our children’s sake.
“During your time in Israel, I hope that you will be able to gain valuable insight and that it will serve as a springboard for future endeavors, as well as enhance your relationship with the Jewish people and values we share with the entire world,” Karhi posted on X.
Musk is expected to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Issac Herzog. Local media reports that the SpaceX CEO will hold closed-door discussions with representatives of the families of hostages held in Gaza and Herzog. According to the Israeli President’s office, Musk and the representatives will discuss the need to curb antisemitism online.
On Sunday, Hamas released a third group of hostages during a ceasefire with Israel. The group includes 14 Israelis and the first American. Israel responded with the release of 39 Palestinian prisoners.
So far, the youngest hostage Hamas has released was 4-year-old Abigail Eden, a dual Israeli-American citizen whose parents were killed at the start of the war on October 7. Hamas has also released nine children ages 17 and younger, plus 3 Thai nationals. It also claims to have released a Russian hostage “in response to the efforts of Russian President Vladimir Putin.”
Meanwhile, Israel has released Palestinians between the ages of 15 and 19. Israel accused the Palestinians of public disorder, property damages, and causing or threatening physical harm to Israeli officers by throwing stones or Molotov cocktails.
