A documentary based on Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk is currently in the works. The film appears to be in good hands, as the documentary is being created by acclaimed director Alex Gibney, who has also made documentaries about a number of high-profile topics.
Gibney’s film about the SpaceX and Tesla CEO is titled simply “Musk.” It is intended to be a “definitive and unvarnished examination” of the CEO. The project has reportedly been months in the making. The director suggested as much in a statement.
“I have been working on this film, off and on, for some time and am hugely excited about it. I am delighted by this extraordinary group who are working with me. Onward!” the director said.
Considering the director’s comments, the upcoming Elon Musk film will likely be quite compelling. Alex Gibney, after all, is an Oscar-winning director. He won an Academy Award for his 2007 film “Taxi to the Dark Side,” which covered the death of an Afghan driver who was beaten to death while being held in extrajudicial detention by American soldiers.
Other documentaries that Gibney created include “Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room,” “Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief,” and “Steve Jobs: Man in the Machine.” He has also made documentaries about Theranos called “The Inventor: Out for Blood in Silicon Valley,” as well as Wikileaks, called “We Steal Secrets: The Story of Wikileaks.”
The upcoming Elon Musk film will be produced by Gibney’s Jigsaw Productions. The film is also being produced together with production companies such as Closer Media, Double Agent, and Anonymous Content. Closer Media founder Zhang Xin shared some excitement about the upcoming Elon Musk film.
“Now is the moment for a rigorous portrait of Elon Musk, who is undeniably one of the most influential figures of our time. Closer Media is thrilled to join forces with Alex Gibney, Anonymous Content, and Double Agent to take on the challenge of examining Musk and his impact on the world,” the Closer Media founder said.
