BoostedBoiz, a YouTube channel, has undertaken an intriguing project with their wrecked Tesla Model S Plaid. After acquiring the damaged car for $60,000, they creatively fixed the rear damage using a tow strap and parts from another wrecked Model S. The car achieved an impressive 9.66-second quarter-mile and 1.49-second 60-foot time on a prepared track surface after the fix.
In their quest to reduce weight, they stripped the entire interior, doors, back trunk, frunk, bumpers, and more, resulting in a weight reduction from 4,745 lbs to 4,046 lbs. Subsequently, they made further modifications by cutting off the roof, removing pillars, and the back end, bringing the weight down to 3,850 lbs. Although the car still operates and charges normally, autopilot is no longer an option.
Their upcoming video will take the “Cyber Kart” to the drag strip, aiming to break the Model S Plaid’s quarter-mile record of 8.73 seconds. They plan to continue making changes, such as using different wheels, brakes, and a Lexan windshield, to further optimize the car’s performance. The build has certainly sparked curiosity and anticipation among their viewers.
