Tesla’s elusive red Semi makes an appearance at California Supercharger

Tesla’s elusive and somewhat rare red Semi made an appearance at a Northern California Supercharger today.

A video of the all-electric Class 8 Semi was shared by @teslacarsonly on Twitter today, backing into a spot at the Dublin, California Supercharger. The Semi utilizes the Tesla Megacharger for charging, and since there isn’t one at the Dublin Supercharger, it likely stopped by for a brief visit to surprise Tesla owners.

Dublin is located in the Bay Area, just 20 miles from Tesla’s Fremont Factory.

The red Semi has been spotted on several occasions in the past, but it is relatively elusive in the sense that it is usually only seen at Tesla’s corporate events and hasn’t been spotted testing on roads in several years. However, a similar red Semi was utilized for all-terrain testing, which Tesla showcased recently in a promotional video.

Tesla landed EPA approval to begin deliveries of the Semi late last year, and officially launched the truck during an event on December 1, 2022. PepsiCo. and Frito-Lay, a subsidiary, accepted the truck and has been utilizing it at several plants in California, most notably the Modesto facility.

Tesla is ready to ship more units of the Semi to Frito Lay, according to those familiar with the vehicle’s production and quality assessment practices at its dedicated manufacturing plant near Gigafactory Nevada.
