Elon Musk shares his thoughts on another potential Donald Trump presidency

Tesla CEO Elon Musk may be leaning right, but he recently noted that it might be time for one of the Republican Party’s most popular faces to exit the stage. In a response to a video of former US President Donald Trump calling him a “bullsh*t artist,” Musk noted that it’s time the reality TV star and serial entrepreneur leave the US presidency to the next generation.

Despite his non-support for Trump, Musk did clarify that he believes the Democrats should cease their ongoing attacks on the former president. Otherwise, Musk stated that the only way for Trump to survive might be to regain the highest office in the land.

“I don’t hate the man, but it’s time for Trump to hang up his hat & sail into the sunset. Dems should also call off the attack — don’t make it so that Trump’s only way to survive is to regain the presidency,” Musk wrote on Twitter.

When prodded by some of the former president’s supporters, Musk explained that while Trump accomplished a number of policies during his term as US President, the reality TV star’s volatile nature has caused a ton of drama. And that, at least according to Musk, is quite unnecessary, especially considering that Trump is getting quite a bit up there when it comes to his age.

“Yeah, but too much drama. Do we really want a bull in a china shop situation every single day!? Also, I think the legal maximum age for start of Presidential term should be 69,” Musk noted.

The Tesla CEO does seem to be walking the walk in terms of the politicians he has supported as of late. His first Republican vote went to Rep. Mayra Flores, a young Texas Republican who flipped a Democratic seat in South Texas. He has also expressed support for the idea of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis running for president in 2024. DeSantis, like Flores, is substantially younger than candidates like Trump and Biden.

In fact, Musk noted that if Biden were to face a candidate like DeSantis in 2024, the Democratic Party could end up with an easy loss. The Tesla CEO’s sentiments may not be too off the mark, either, as recent polling has suggested that about two-thirds of Democrats would prefer another presidential nominee in 2024 instead of Joe Biden.

“Trump would be 82 at end of term, which is too old to be chief executive of anything, let alone the United States of America. If DeSantis runs against Biden in 2024, then DeSantis will easily win — he doesn’t even need to campaign,” Musk wrote.
