Tesla has a secret ‘Butthole’ Easter Egg that owners are discovering

Tesla owners may have stumbled across an Easter egg that the electric vehicle community will rally behind. It turns out Tesla has a very unusual way to access its vehicles’ charge ports using a voice command. A voice command that demonstrates Tesla’s thorough understanding of its vehicles’ anatomy.

Tesla fanatic @tesla_master posted a discovery on Twitter a few days ago. Using the voice command “Open Butthole” on a Tesla, according to the EV fan, opens the charge port door. This prompted a flurry of jokes from the EV community, with some even opting to try out the Easter egg for themselves.

The “Open Butthole” Easter egg was also authenticated, in true Tesla fashion. Other Tesla owners later discovered that using the voice command “Close Butthole” actually closes the charging port. Given the nature of this new Easter egg, it was only a matter of time before videos of it in action surfaced on the internet.

The amusing Easter egg appears to work with other words relevant to the posterior, with Tesla owners reporting that the voice commands “Open Bunghole” and “Close Bunghole” often work with their vehicles’ charge ports.

Interestingly, other Tesla owners have stated that the “Open Butthole” voice command actually opens the rear trunk of their vehicles. This is intriguing, as it shows that while the voice command is definitely linked to a Tesla feature, the company is yet to standardize which feature is activated with the command.

Although the voice commands “Open Butthole” and “Close Butthole” are certainly amusing, the feature is undeniably Tesla. Members of the Tesla community had already learned that their vehicles respond to voice commands like “My balls are cold,” which turns on the driver’s seat heaters, or “Enable/Disable Life Support,” which turns the climate control on or off, well before this recent Easter egg.

Tesla is the undisputed leader in the electric vehicle market, but despite its frightening determination to set new records in terms of vehicle production and deliveries every year, the company hasn’t lost its sense of humor. Tesla is also hinting that its team will play as hard as they work, with Easter eggs aplenty in both software and hardware.
