Tesla has sent out new delivery timelines for customers who purchased a Model X “Refresh.” Reservation holders can now see an approximate delivery date of October on their owner’s accounts, putting the expected delivery date back several months depending on the owner.
Several Tesla Model X owners who pre-ordered the vehicle after the automaker announced modifications would be made to both the Model S and Model X are sharing their updated expected delivery dates that are being displayed in their Tesla accounts. The changes differ from one driver to the next. Several customers who ordered the vehicle on February 20th are now expecting it in October. Another customer, who was expecting their Model X in June, is now expecting it in October, implying that the Model X will not make it off the assembly line for several months.
Tesla recently informed Model S pre-orderers that they do not yet have an approximate delivery date, but that this “should change within the next week.”
Tesla is making final improvements to both the Model S and Model X before it leaves the assembly lines and is delivered to customers, which could trigger delivery delays. Tesla was supposed to start shipping the Model S Plaid in February, but they were unable to meet the deadline. However, Elon Musk, the company’s CEO, told Teslarati in early March that the final product required some slight tweaks.
Originally, the Model X was supposed to arrive “a little later” than the Model S. The vehicle was expected to start deliveries to customers in March, according to rumors. Tesla, on the other hand, advised some Model X customers to expect delivery between February 15 and March 15.
This was later found to be untrue, as deliveries were never made at this time. However, with October now being reported as the new planned delivery date, Tesla will have several more months to iron out any problems with the vehicle or the company’s production processes, which change on a regular basis.
