The Tesla Cybertruck has been spotted “off-roading” at the company’s new engineering headquarters in Palo Alto, California. The all-electric pickup truck could be seen operating with its raised suspension during its short “off-road” drive.
Tesla’s new engineering headquarters was formally launched by CEO Elon Musk and California Governor Gavin Newsom on Wednesday. During his opening address, Musk highlighted that Tesla has now become the largest manufacturing employer in California, with 48,000 employees in the state.
Musk also noted that the Fremont Factory team had accomplished remarkable feats over the years. The factory was not originally designed to produce electric vehicles like the Model 3 and Model Y, but it has nevertheless become the largest car manufacturing plant in the United States by output. The CEO also noted that Tesla has now produced a number of pre-production Cybertruck units that attendees could see.
One of these pre-production Cybertruck units was sighted by avid Tesla watchers on social media. Electric vehicle group The Kilowatts and YouTube’s What’s Inside?, for one, were able to capture photos and footage of the all-electric pickup truck climbing over a grassy incline outside the new Tesla Engineering HQ. Several Tesla employees could be seen around the Cybertruck before it went “off-road,” with some seemingly guiding the pickup truck’s driver.
The Cybertruck’s air suspension has caught the attention of the EV community in recent days. Just a few days ago, a video of the all-electric pickup truck driving around with its air suspension system fully raised up was shared online. And even more recently, videos shared in the Cybertruck Owners Club featured a clearer look around the truck while its air suspension system was fully engaged.
The Tesla Cybertruck has seen its own fair share of delays, but if the company’s recent announcements and sightings of the vehicle are any indication, it would appear that the first deliveries of the all-electric pickup truck are indeed coming. Barring any further delays, the Cybertruck’s initial production may happen as early as Summer. The truck’s first batch of owners would likely be able to take delivery of their vehicles by the end of the year as well.
