SpaceX’s Starlink Maritime offer nabbed another client in Athens-based Oceangold Tankers.

Oceangold Tankers has deployed Starlink’s satellite internet service across all 13 of its vessels. Starlink is working with satcom service provider Navarino to provide the Oceangold Tankers with connectivity.

“I am delighted that our long-standing partner, Oceangold, has chosen Navarino to deliver the Starlink service to its fleet.

“We look forward to helping them bring this new, high-speed connectivity service to their vessels and all the advantages that this low latency platform can offer both for crew welfare but also to enhance and upgrade their business operations,” said Kyriakos Striboulis, Navarino Account Manager for Oceangold.

According to the ship management company’s CTO Manager, John Angelis, Starlink’s internet service will be used in the vessels’ telemetry systems to monitor machinery and equipment. Starlink will also support direct connections to Oceangold Tankers’ existing ERP system.

SpaceX launched Starlink Maritime last July, enabling connectivity on most remote waters worldwide. In May 2023, Starlink announced it was supporting over 150 cruise ships with its satellite internet service.

Among its list of clients are Regent Seven Seas Cruises and Maersk. Starlink was installed aboard the Seven Seas Mariner, part of Regent Seven Seas Cruises. The luxury cruise line expects to install Starlink in another vessel named the Seven Seas Grandeur.

With Maersk, Starlink provides internet access to the company’s Ocean fleet.

“We are excited to announce our journey with Starlink to provide state-of-the-art connectivity to our seagoing colleagues. The highspeed connectivity will enable our seagoing colleagues to stay connected with their loved ones at sea. It will also propel the expansion of seamless cloud solutions, enabling our vision to digitalize our vessel operations,” noted Leonardo Sonzio, Maersk’s Head of Fleet Management and Tech.
