Elon Musk and Justine Wilson
To date, Elon has been married twice. In 2000, he married Justine Wilson, and they went on to have six kids together.
Unfortunately, their first son, Nevada Alexander, died from sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) at 10 weeks old in 2002. Elon and Justine had five other sons: the twins Griffin and Xavier, born in 2004, and the triplets Kai, Saxon and Damian, born in 2006.
In 2008, Elon filed a divorce lawsuit. Justine told Marie Claire: “I didn’t want to be a sideline player in the multimillion-dollar spectacle of my husband’s life. I wanted equality. I wanted partnership. I wanted to love and be loved, the way we had before he made all his millions.”
Elon Musk and Talulah Riley
In 2010, Elon married the actress Talulah Riley. While the couple ended up separating in 2012, in 2013 they finally got married again. Sadly, in 2016, the relationship ended in divorce.
Elon Musk and Grimes
In 2018, Elon Musk and the musician Grimes (born Claire Boucher) began dating. Grimes actually revealed that she had changed her name to “c,” the representation of the speed of light. This is assumed to have been encouraged by Elon.
On May 4, 2020, Grimes went on to give birth to a baby boy, Elon’s seventh son. Musk revealed that their son was called “X Æ A-12 Musk.” Grimes went on to clarify the odd name on Twitter, posting:
- X, the unknown variable ⚔️
- Æ, my elven spelling of Ai (love &/or Artificial intelligence)
- A-12 = precursor to SR-17 (our favorite aircraft). No weapons, no defences, just speed. Great in battle, but non-violent 🤍

It was then reported, however, that a name with a number would not be approved by the State of California. The couple then revealed that they had changed the name of their son to “X Æ A-Xii.”
Elon told Joe Rogan on his podcast to go into more depth on how to pronounce the baby’s name: “I mean it’s just X, the letter X, and the ‘Æ’ is pronounced, ‘Ash’.”
